A thoroughly enjoyable read that reminded me a bit of reading an Agatha Christie mystery. Melanie Travis is asked by her Aunt Peg to help an old friend of hers write a book about his life. Shortly after meeting Edward March, his son is murdered and it looks like he is the #1 prime suspect. Edward asks Melanie to help find the real killer and so begins her search. The book also gives us a look at the dog show world and Melanie's family life as well. Gone With the Woof reminded me of earlier Melanie books. I think it was taking Melanie out of her usual routine and giving her something new to do, even if only for a minute before the mystery kicked in. You get your dose of dog information, which I rather like, and I also liked the way she reflected on how her life has changed (some things for the better, some things just... changed).
I read this book in a day! I have MISSED the Melanie Travis series and I am so glad she is back!
