Gospodarica Rima (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I was so excited to read this book as a continuation from Mistress of Rome and it. did. not. disappoint.Admittedly it did take me a while to get into the book, for some reason it didn't draw me in so instantaneously as Mistress or Daughters did, but having said that once I had got to the 'Dacia' chapters I tore through the book like a mofo' (no other word describes better). I was so impatient that I even ended up reading the last few parts of the book prematurely (a word of advice, don't do it, you'll relish the twists and turns even more so).The book was very well written and the characters were layered, complex and overall entertaining to read about! I enjoyed the unconventional aspect to Vix and Sabina's relationship and liked what it ended up becoming (it's quite unexpected to be honest). I even liked Plotina's madness (it's the only way to put it). The only qualm I have about the book is that I would have loved to have read a more detailed storyline of Mirah's and Vix's relationship - as in what drew them to each other. But other then that this book is a solid enjoyable read, easily another favourite and I cannot wait for the next instalment! What a cracker of an ending!!!! Not an ending to the series though; it can't be, it is soo set up for Book 4!! And it finished making me ITCH for Book 4!!! Eek!!!What can I say about this book that I haven't already said about the previous books?? I've just had the most heartstopping, drama filled time ever reading this series on ancient Rome. Book 1 had the gladiator games, Book 2 the chariot racing, and this book, Book 3 has the wars, the Roman Empire expanding, the life within a tent in a Roman garrison and on the march across lands. Its also a different love story than any of the love dramas in the first two books...the main love story in this one is not resolved, and I must say I love that!! I love that sooo much!! 'Experts' say a love story has to be round out by the end, all the ends neatly tied up, and all issues resolved, the lovers together...but I've always disliked that, particularly in a series!! I want my David Addison and Maddie Hayes, my Fran Fine and Mr Sheffield, my...(can't think of any others!!)...I want that tension there, that will they or won't they...I personally hate the happily ever after!! So I am on the edge of my seat (really, bed), biting my nails, hanging for another book in this series. The ending of this book is that good!!Not only do I want Book 4, I so so so so so SO want Kate Quinn, newly crowned Queen of the Ancient World, to write a series (not just one book, but a series!!) on ancient Egypt. Please please please! Cleopatra is just about my most favourite topic to read about...I can't see anyone else doing old Cleo de Nile and ancient Egypt justice but Kate Quinn. I am one pushy reader. I want all that!!! But when you're in love, you get needy!!
