This is indeed a very readable biography. It focuses mainly on the film career of Grace Kelly rather than the private life of the Princess of Monaco, which is nice because it presents the opportunity for fun bits of Hollywood trivia. My only qualm with this work is the author's personal relationship with the subject; the nature of that situation removes the possibility for an objective telling of her life. All in all, it's an informative and enjoyable read. This biography provides a solid background on Kelly's family life, career, romantic relationships and marriage and is easy to follow given it moves chronologically. Although well written and devoid of gossip, it is perhaps a little too clean at times a rendering of Grace Kelly. Spoto goes to great lengths to refute the negative claims made about Kelly over the course of her life, but in so doing, he swings her to the other end of the pendulum, equally as unreal. Somewhere in the middle of the two extremes likely lies the truth.
What do You think about Grace Kelly (2009)?
Good for basic history. Most of it is history before becoming princess, would have like more after.
