So, I'm going to call this a guilty pleasure. I enjoyed it but I also did a lot of eye-rolling.Spoilers below***************Lots of them***********************************Gracie is 17 years old and a freedom fighter for the last 5 years since some bad aliens invaded earth. It is apparently, current date. She's in love with one of her 4 protective brothers-in-arms who are called the freedom 5. She is known among the resistance for her uplifting broadcasts to rally the spirits of the fighters.Gracie is ridiculously talented (emphasis on ridiculous)a computer genius, fluent in 15 languages (including the alien language) able to fly a space ship, you name it, there is nothing this plucky heroine cant do. She is even "the only one" who can fly a supply transport to the mother ship in order to upload virus's and cause the alien ship to self-destruct. That's right folks, the fate of the planet rests in her 17 year old capable hands.After successfully uploading the viruses, her attempt to return safely to earth is halted when the mother ship attempts to follow her so she sacrifices herself by leading the ship away from earth and in the ensuing explosion winds up on a distant moon where she must fend for herself.3 years later, Gracie is "rescued" by Kordon, an alien warrior who immediately falls in love with her. What she didn't know is that the blast had caused a rip in time and sent her 850 years into the future. Gracie pretty much falls in love with Kordon within a few days even though she was still in love with Chance, she gets over him pretty quick.Amazing alien sex is followed by Gracie AGAIN attempting a daring mission to save kidnapped women from the same mean aliens who had attacked earth back in her day.Mind you, chronologically Gracie is only 20 years old. But, Oh that girl! She can charm anyone, isn't afraid of anything, can do anything! It's just so over the top! Still, I really liked the story and Gracie was not unlikable, just too good to be true :) Having read all the lords of valdier(loved them all) I knew what to expect from S.E.Smith. A human and alien finding love and dealing with those that would see them dead or apart. Gracie spends years alone in an unknown world, only to find out her family is gone. Kordon recognizes his mate in Gracie first by her voice,then claims her immediately after their first meeting. Having missed love the first time,Gracie didn't hesitate to experience it with Kordon. Gracie is a firecracker-trouble always seems to find her,but her mate is always there. As one of captors, half Alluthan/half human Krac, comes to respect Gracie pledging to keep her safe. Great story,can't wait for more in this world!
