After wishing them a ‘good day’, she showered, dressed and settled in to do some research. Near seven-thirty, a knock came to the door. From the other side Elena heard Jeff’s voice, announcing his presence. She opened the door, and Jeff entered with coffee and muffins. Elena welcomed his company. Though she’d been alone for less than an hour, she missed the guys. Especially Zander. The attraction she experienced for the man-beast surprised her. For a couple of hours Elena and Jeff conversed about the gargoyles, their curse, and the protection Jeff offered them. His family had been the protectors, and attendants of sorts, for close to two-hundred years. In addition to the gargoyles watching over their guardians during the nighttime hours, the family received financial compensation. It warmed Elena to learn Jeff was very fond of them. His admittance reaffirmed her opinion that he was a good man with a heart of gold. After exhausting her questions, Jeff decided to leave her to her research.
