Yet another book where the baddie is an Iraqi Muslim. Is this an American thing? It made a nice change to have biological warfare rather than the usual suicide bomber though. The action was great. Loads of death and destruction, splatter and gore - what's not to like? Nicely fast-paced with just enough background to round out Jack Cutter's character without eating into the action too much. I would recommend this for any zombie fan and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I must confess that Nicholas Ryan's Ground Zero was the first book I read within this genre, but I got caught by it instantly. The storyline is fast but you keep always following on track. And though it's not THAT long the story earns every credit books twice or more that length would get!!As I said at the beginning this book was my first within this genre. After just watching movies of this subject I was a little afraid at first that a book wouldn't catch my attention that much, because sometimes it's always the same. But not so with Ground Zero! I wasn't disappointed. Not. At. All. From the first line to the last, Nicholas Ryan got me hooked that much with his book, I couldn't put it down till I finished the last page. It was a whole new experience of zombies to me. Ryan's zombies aren't the shuffling and drooling brain munchers, that evil bastards can run and even show up other (to me) new behavior, that got me stunned and surprised more than one time. There are no logical traps with this desease or zombies the author or reader could step in like you can see sometimes on other zombie movies/books etc. The story is just amazing and easy to follow. His characters are realistic and you get a feeling for them the instant you meet them. With backrounds given to every character you feel for them in every scary and wild situation they get thrown into and bite your nails and hope and pray they get there out alive. Sometimes it really felt I would stand beside Jack or Sam or was looking through their eyes. Nicholas Ryan gives us that way a really really scary and heart racing chance to feel the fear his characters were into. And I loved every of this moments!!This book was quite a ride of feelings and shock moments (and some secretly whispered curses against my Kindle..) that didn't left me disappointed. I will surely read more books by Nicholas Ryan and I am really looking forward to the next one!Join this awesome rollercoaster ride of a zombie dread and the few survivors to get out of it in one piece and alive.Nicholas Ryan you did a great job here and I hope to read many more of such amazing books!!!
Fast-paced and violent, which you want in Z-fiction, but the guy needed a writing coach.

Didn't live up to hype. I will check out the next in the series to see if it improves.
