When I started Half Black Soul it took me a little while to realize I had started on the second book. Which means that H. D. Gordon did a successful job in recapping the first book without overdoing it. But considering this, I might not have the same feelings toward some of the characters as others who might have read the first book. I don’t believe in providing spoilers so I am going to try my very best not to.I can relate to Alexa (except for the whole smoking thing, but hey it’s supposed to relieve stress so I get it) she is this tough character, The Sun Warrior. She is a lethal fighting machine and so is her monster. I enjoyed the interaction between Alexa and her monster, how they would talk to each other and decided who got to take out whom.I thought Nelly was really annoying at first. She was whiney, weak, and just seemed to not be able to take care of herself, always depending on other people to take care of her. But OH, how she does develop into a very interesting character in this book.At first I had no attachment to Kayden, but the more I read the more I appreciated his character and fell in love with him. His relationship with Alexa is also an exciting one.I also had no attachment to Jackson, Alexa’s werewolf boyfriend, but he does prove to be an interesting character down the road. I am sure there are some other characters that I have not mentioned here, but might have more significant importance to people who read the first book.Overall, the book was amazing. It was full of action and it really doesn’t slow down. Both Alexa and Nelly have to learn how to handle and face their inner demons while trying to accomplish saving the Vampire and Werewolf races. I received a free e-book copy for an honest review. I can say I really enjoyed this book because I already read the third and fourth books. very good sequel to Blood Warrior. Even though the story takes place in a very narrow time frame (only a week I think) a lot happens.again I loved Alexa and I loooovvved the "discussions" with her monster. those two made me laugh, and that might be a little bit disturbing. Whatever.Nelly got more interesting with every chapter and I was glad that she finally grew a pair! but somehow I didn't like the revelation at the ending. Kayden.. well yum is all I can say. I'm glad he steps up his game, but there is room for improvement! I liked him though. he is great and I hope that Alexa can do the right thing.Jackson... oh just fuck off asshole. really, what a jerk!I don't really have any guesses for the third book so I'm just gonna read it now.
