Fun novella. Fayrene has started her own business and has a five year plan for her life. She's one year into that plan and right on track. She meets Ryan while on her latest job as a temp. There's definitely an attraction between them but she doesn't want anything to derail her plans and he has the potential to do that.I loved the initial meeting between them. Fayrene is panicking because the cat she is watching has gone into labor and she has no idea what to do. Ryan is there in the office working a talks her down off her panic. She is attracted to him, but doesn't want anything long term. When she discovers that Ryan is only in Fool's Gold for a short time she thinks it's great. They can have a little fling and it won't interfere with her plan. She doesn't expect to fall for him.Ryan is an engineer, working with Ethan on the wind turbines. He's only in Fool's Gold for a short time before he moves on to another job in Texas. He likes being in Fool's Gold and working with Ethan is great. When he meets the live wire Fayrene things really start looking up. He enjoys her company and the attraction is a bonus. When she wants to indulge their attraction and has no problem with it being temporary he is surprised. It isn't long before he realizes he is falling for her. When Ethan offers him a chance to stay he has to figure out a way to convince Fayrene that it's a good thing for them. I liked the solution he came up with though I wonder if they'll be able to stick to it. I'm sure we'll see them in later books. Fay has a 5-year business plan she intends to meet by hook or by crook and these plans have no room for love, or so she thought. As we all know, things never happen according to plan and in comes Ryan on that fateful day when she had some cat emergency. Ryan who grew up on a farm, handled with such a flare that she felt tingles and sizzles all over. I would have felt it too seeing how Ryan was so gentle with the cat and patient to Fay's excessive worry over the cat. Relationship isn't on Ryan who is on a contract work for Ethan, isn't looking to have relationship on his plate too. But there's just something about Fool's Gold and Fay that seem to be tugging his heart. This book is a novella and I was kinda disappointed. I thought the story fell short in comparison with the Fool's Gold stories I've read. Noted that this is a novella but the story felt rushed and you don't getta see much of the other Fool's Gold characters. Still a good afternoon read with moments that makes ur mouth curl up unknowingly.
Wow, a happy-for-now novella? Though the HEA was very much implied...

cute, easy read only 47 pages so it seemed a little rushed.
