Hana To Akuma, Vol. 01 (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

It was so sad and funny and beautiful and amazing! So basically, Hana was left at Vivi's doorstep when she was an infant. He sort of raises her with his servants in this huge castle! He has tutors for her and takes care of her, but not in a fatherly way...more like a friend or big brother, I guess. Anyway, the main plot of the story is that demons want Vivi to come back to the demon world, but Hana wants Vivi to stay.Hana gets older throughout the story, but she doesn't really act much older. She goes from 14 to 15 to 18, but she still acts very young for her age and cries a lot. Still, I liked Hana. She was cute and very positive, but kind of stupid. I liked her relationship with Vivi but it was strange that they were together when she was so young. I never saw them as a parent-daughter pair anyway, so that wasn't too strange for me, but their ages made me wary. But it was sweet that Hana always brought him flowers, even though they were just going to die when he touched them. Hana was devoted to Vivi, and it was adorable.Vivi was 200 years old, which worried me because Hana was 14. I did like that, in the narration, they mentioned that 14 years was like nothing to Vivi. I also liked Vivi in general; he was funny and serious, and he always forgave Hana. He really loved her, as a person and as a girl. He sometimes reacts badly to Hana, but they always make up.The artwork was gorgeous. I loved the costumes and scenery, and the world was just lovely. The plot, honestly, was good, but I felt like I was waiting for Hana to grow up. The romance was soooo slooow, which was okay, but I wanted them to get together so badly, and I wanted Hana to grow up. Overall the series was funny and cute but also kind of dark. It was set in Victorian times, so the dresses were amazing! Some of you might think, "Oh my gosh, 14 years old, creepy!" It is. It's creepy and weird...but I still like it. A lot of manga is strange, but its mostly because I'm not used to reading that kind of thing. It Hana's age freaks you out, you might want to skip this book...and a lot of the manga out there. The ending made me bawl. In retrospect, it was a very good and more realistic ending, but I wanted happily ever after! This was more...bittersweet. I could have gone without the very end, but it was so good. I have a huge book hangover now. Feelings. One last note: This manga isn't translated officially. It's translated on websites like TenManga. What does that mean? It's not licensed in the US, so if you're looking to buy it, don't waste your money. You have to read it free and legally online. I prefer to read on my iPod because it's quicker... The story is a typical YA Paranormal plot: a handsome demon attached to a human girl. Bibi, who is a 200-year-old demon, finds Hana when she is a baby, and raises her. The plot develops when she is 14 years old, but in reality, looks more like a 9-year-old girl. She loves Bibi very much, but he, as a demon, avoids to touch her because demons destroy flowers... and Hana means flower.I cannot like Hana. Or she is smiling like an idiot, or she keeps crying like a baby. The whole issue 'I can't touch you/I want to touch you' gets boring after a while.I liked Tony the servant, Felton the annoying friend, and even the 'enemy', Klaus. These 3 characters were more interesting and funny than Bibi and Hana. The art-style is not very good. The shape of the head is weird, and the body, not very proportionate. In Hana, the eyes are too big. The relationship between Bibi and Hana is too corny for my taste.
