3.5 stars would be more like it, but I bumped it up for the lack of a few pet peeves of mine. This is a sweet little short story about two long time acquaintances who have just never seen each other romantically. His sister is her best (maybe only) friend, so there's a mental block there to maintain the status quo, but circumstances conspire to put them together and everything neatly falls into place. It was a little too neat for me, and could have been fleshed out more. The heroine is literally hours out from a breakup with a man she thought she might marry, so the almost immediate transfer of feelings to the hero felt more like a rebound than a true love story. If not for their history, I wouldn't have bought it, and this would be a two star story.Still, the relationship felt real, based on more than simple "I never realized how hot you are" feelings, and I was happy to see Marty and Dom get their happily ever after. There are some editing problems, but I don't hold that against freebies. Recommended for a quick, sweet read. I really enjoyed this cosy Christmas story. Two friends who realise that there maybe something more between them. If only because I found the hero a little too perfect and the story a touch too sweet (some of the humour counter-balanced this) as well as some of the descriptions of characters a little too lengthy it didn't quite make the 4 star grade for me.Will certainly try more of this author's work though.
