Her Mystery Duke by Natasha Blackthorne A Truly Special read....There are a lot of erotic BDSM books emerging in the genre but Natasha Blackthorne is a master and has created something a cut above the rest. It is one of the best written novels I've read in a long time. She can describe something in the most beautifully described detail. The way she includes all the senses of sight, smell, sound, touch and taste plus the bodily reactions to each, had me completely immersed. I also really loved the characters. There's enough back story that gives you plenty of insight into the characters' personalities. I found Jeanne independent, resilient, determined as well as vulnerable, nurturing and free spirited. I thought David was a gentleman, confident, hardworking , headstrong, proud, a strong sense of civil duty but also compassionate, loyal and very hot!I found the balance and blending of lust, romance, dominance/submission and intimacy, just right. As in her former books, it was well researched and authentic in its historical portrayal. I came away feeling like I had stepped back in time!Even if you're not used to BDSM, I would recommend this book. It really tugged on my heart strings and had several unforeseen surprises. There is the c-word but in its context, wasn't offensive to me. I volunteered to help beta review some chapters and came across a gem! This did not effect my opinion in this review and I have definitely recommended it to friends. While "Her Mystery Duke" is filled with explicit sensual scenes it also deals with mental illness,its effects on those who love them and the need for change. I enjoyed the fact "Her Mystery Duke" was not all about the sex and passion but about love,compassion,and tenderness. A quick read. *But be warned it does have BDSM,Explicit erotic scenes,anal play,spanking,domination, subsmission and some voyeurism.* Be prepared it is a scorcher. I would highly recommend "Her Mystery Duke" to readers of not only erotic romance,but those to enjoy a good romp through Regency London you won't be disappointed.
