The petite Parisian witch had sworn at him most shockingly in French, calling him a barrage of names he did understand and many he did not. Asmodeus didn’t care and had told her as much. She had huffed and sat down on one of the boulders in the ruined courtyard of his broken home. Romulus and Remus lingered nearby, on edge and alert. “Find her for me, Serenity,” Asmodeus commanded and the fair-haired woman looked up at him, her hazel eyes bright with defiance. He sighed and did the only thing he could think of to win her over and convince her to do as he bid, more than willing to do this for Liora’s sake. He went down on one knee before Serenity and rested his forearm on his bent leg. “The Devil has her… please, Serenity. Find her for me.” Serenity looked torn and then frowned at him. “Take me back to Apollyon. He won’t understand… unless we explain. He will come after you.” She sounded concerned and he found that hard to swallow because it wasn’t concern about her own welfare or Liora’s, or even Apollyon’s distress on finding her gone.
