I personally loved this story. Most of the negative reviews I’ve read are more because they are reading a book that isn’t their type. So if your not interested in dragons, elves, magical domains, and suspending belief don’t read this book. However if you enjoy well written books that are dynamic with an unusual plot then you will enjoy this book. There was a lot of detail including character detail. The chemistry between the characters was steamy and done so well I never felt it was rushed. There were some characters in there that I’m hoping are meant to be in other books otherwise I didn't really understand them being in this one. All together though, I would recommend this book to those that like some magic to their reads. I like the style of prose--very easy to read and understand. It wasn't boring although it did have parts where I'd found it a bit boring. I like how Kael grows to be a strong man with the help of Hugh, Mordred and George. The climax was a bit too short--the build-up was practically the whole book but the climax only had like 10 or less. But at least there's a sequel so I'm looking forward to how they will solve the dragon problem and who's responsible for that.
