Katy Carter is no domestic goddess — she's scatterbrained, needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking, and falls off the diet wagon on a daily basis but as like everyone, she fantasizes of a romantic hero of her own. Katy has a job as a English teacher but she is interested in writing historical romance novels than teaching or staff meetings. So, this is Katy Carter and didn't you like her characterization just by reading her introduction! I absolutely enjoyed her. The book by Ms. Saberton is about Katy's life and how she gets her own romantic hero at the end after lot of family dramas, complications, conflicts. Ms. Saberton has done a very good job such a plot and made it into a entertaining novel, also a page-turner (kept me till 3 am). The flow of the story is really good, quite a different chick-lit i have read so far, funny and lot of humorous dialogues till the end. From the first itself, we get a good idea about Katy's character and it gets you hooked to read the whole book. The book starts with Katy's life with her fiancee, James who she thinks is her perfect man but ignores the jibes of his mother and his demands that she becomes the perfect hostess to support his efforts to get a promotion. The first some pages i felt irritated towards Katy as she was so much acting as a doormat. But soon, she realizes James was trying to change her entirely into someone else who is not real her. Then, there is her best friend for eight years, Ollie, even though is not her fantasy hero, is a perfect friend and a good person who has supported her during all her ups and downs. Ollie was great...i loved his character. Especially his jet setter Sasha:). When realizes Katy wants to write her novel , she resigns her job and relocates to Cornwall, to stay with her friend, Maddy, who is convinced that the move will give her a whole new life and a successful book. In Cornwall, she meets lot of characters and sets off on a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey. She obviously changes her life but, through it realizes that her romantic hero was always there in front of her and he was always the one thing that was constant in her life. OK, i think you can guess who her hero is!!But, to enjoy the book completely, you have to read it...it is a funny roller-coaster journey through Katy Carter's life!! This book had me in fits of laughter. I read the first 40 or so pages in my English silent reading lesson and found myself in tears of laughter. I had to control myself laughing as when Ollie brought his cousin it just was hilarious. Then all of Katy's trouble with James, I felt for her, I really did. i finished this book 10th November and ever since then I have missed the characters. I keep thinking what's going to happen next for Katy and Ollie and then realise I have come to the end. A truly amazing book that keeps you in suspence. I guessed that katy would be with ollie in the end but I didn't expect all of the drama in between. I cannot wait for Ruth's new book to be published as her editors are in the last stage of the book being editted.
What do You think about Herzstück Mit Sahne (2012)?
I'm a sucker for British Chic Lit. Can't help it. No its not rocket science...but it was fun. :-)
