*Satisfying romantic suspense*“Mickey” (as in , she’s been “slipped a Mickey”) wakes up a prisoner in a facility with no idea who she is, where she is, or why she’s there. After she escapes, she begins to track down her old life with the help of gym owner Steve Spaneas, who thinks she’s another street person off her meds when she stumbles into a self-defense classThe story rips along, with action galore, crisp dialogue, and enough romance to make Steve’s willingness to put his life on the line for her believable. If only Steve and Mickey/Anna/Jane weren’t so perfect. Between his noble choice to live among and protect the homeless from going the way of his dead brother, and her kickass Robin Hood activity, spunky zingers when the bad guys come for her, and quirk of bursting into song and dance just because life calls for it, there was no doubt in my mind that they were going to come out on top.But just because I would rather see a few more warts on these characters is no reason to shy away from this rereleased Harlequin. This is an excellent first exposure to author Doranna Durgin, well worth the read. Free E-book from Amazon. More spy thriller than romance (they never do more than kiss in the whole book) But a nice read. Like an episode of 24.Anna wakes p handcuffed to a hospital bed, not sre where she is, how she got there or.... who she is. She hears her captors talking about the experimental drug they used on her, and takes the name "mickey Finn" as her own. When they start questioning her abot a girl named Naia, and threatening torture si knows something is up. She manages to escape and finds her way to a gym downtown.Steve Spaneas spent years trying to help his brother, a paranoid schizophrenic . But ultimately was unable to save him. Now he owns and runs a gym in bad part of town, trying to help others learn to defend themselves against the evils on the streets. When Micky walks into his gym he thinks she is another mentally ill street person. But it soon becomes apparent that is not the case. People are looking for her.. bad people and the CIA. WTF?Together they search for answers to Mickey real identity and Naia.Lots of intrigue, international terrorism, spies etc,
