Taking a break from the paranormal romance genre, I found myself returning to Howell's Murray Family saga. And once again found myself drawn into the historical Scotland. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it an enjoyable read. I really liked the strength and determination of Arianna's character, and liked watching the relationship between her and Brian grow. As with the rest of her books, I liked the humor and action throughout the story. The only drawback for me (and it's a small one) is that it took me a moment to place the characters and how they were related to the extensive Murray clan. I definately hope the author continues this series, and look forward to whose story will come next. A beautiful stunning historical romance. What made me instantly like this book was that it was set in Scotland. I haven’t read too many books that are set in Scotland. Most of the historical romance books I read take place in England or France. Also like discovering new authors such as Hannah Howell. Never having read any book in this series or a book by Hannah Howell, I was looking forward to reading this book. What immediately caught my attention was the hero. Brian was a man of action and I just love when the hero of the book is one that is defined by his actions. He immediately is a guy that you could fall head over heels for. What made me feel for this guy was that he immediately falls hard upon seeing the heroine, Arianna. Arianna is risking everything for the two boys who she has come to care about, even though her now dead husband was mean and cruel. This seems to be a common theme in a lot of romance novels lately. Spousal abuse back then was just accepted. Arianna has to realize that she was not at fault. Brian is a wonderful character and man here as it makes him a much more loveable hero. He tells Arianna that it wasn’t her fault and that Claud(her now dead husband) did that. He makes her feel loved and secure. There is a bit of mystery regarding Arianna’s two boys that she is taking care of. It enhanced the storyline in a lot of ways. The mystery regarding them was a bit strange and a little far-fetched, but it worked surprisingly. The love scenes between Arianna and Brian were some of the nicest ones ever written. At times Brian and Arianna could be passionate, yet it was sweet. This was something that I came to love about Brian. His attention to Arianna was beautiful. The only problem that threw me a little bit off was the ‘Aye’s and ‘Ere’s in the book. Once I got past that the book was really good. It was just a wonderful love story.Rating: 4.5 Hearts
