I have read only a few other stories by this author and I was not too terribly impressed. I am so glad I did not let the others keep from reading this. It helps that this feels like a full story. This has a clear setting and great character development and plot. I loved the world created here parallel to our known world so it the wulver world feels real. I loved the characters they were likeable and had depth, a little cliché but for the genre it is acceptable. I am pleasantly surprised and look forward to the next book in this series. What a great surprise! I borrowed this book via Kindle Unlimited, and a search on the author's name suggests that the subject matter is a departure from her previous books. The plot makes creative use of the werewolf genre to get at gender issues relevant for the time period, but in a way that is thoughtful and subtle. The main character's ability to use herbs for medicinal purposes is well done. Definitely looking forward to picking up the next novel in this series.
This was a fun fast read that I didn't want to put down. I hope there will be more or this story.
