Funny, funny, funny. To paraphrase Renee Zellweger, she had me at the first page. "Bella was taking her dog for a stroll across the page..." On page two and three half of the dog disappears in the book crease. Pretty soon everything starts to disappear in the book's center. When our heroine disappears and tosses out a letter to us, the reader, it tells us to turn the book sideways and shake and shake. Such fun! I got a big kick out of the ending too. Great as both a read-aloud and one-on-one. Absolutely loved this one! When the dog first disappeared into the gutter of the book, I was astounded and loved it. What a clever, clever author! I loved how the book kept "eating" various things--and the little "twist" at the end made me laugh out loud. I will definitely nominate this for the "play" CLEL Bells award, (and push for it!) if it hasn't been done already. Must use it in an upcoming storytime SOON!
