He didn’t want to waken Kaela, but he was restless, his heart aching. Turning his head, he smiled simply seeing the shadow of her form, but the way she was curled up to him was amazing. He’d collected her in his arms, taking her to his bed and they’d made love twice. Shaking his head, he thought about the way she’d reacted when he’d attempted to tie her wrists, the horror in her eyes. What had the beautiful woman endured? Everyone kept secrets buried deep inside and he suspected hers was similar to what he’d been going through. The look she’d given him was so gut wrenching. He was smart enough to know she’d given him her trust, at least to a degree. The rest he was going to have to earn. God, he wanted to take care of and nurture her. If only she could trust him enough to tell him what had happened. The irony wasn’t lost on him. He certainly couldn’t talk to her about his ugliness, his terrible past. Hearing her soft mewing sounds, her peaceful breathing, gave him a tremendous feeling of joy.
