How God Became King: The Forgotten Story Of The Gospels (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Would have given it another star if the author wasn't so annoyingly snobbish. Very good, writing, beautiful actually. Not exactly clear-cut Toulmin reasoning/critical analysis, but that just means taking more time to digest what Wright is trying to say. At the same time, I'm still kind of left in the dark as far as "well what does this all mean to me as a Christian today?" I'm not sure I can say exactly what his conclusion was in that respect. Still, a good read. Probably a four star book, but I had difficulty sticking with it at times. Not the best book to read twenty minutes at a time! An interesting premise, which defines some of today's religious politics: Why do some churches focus solely on creeds at the expense of the Gospels? What is in the Gospels besides the "good news"? Wright talks about God's Kingdom here on earth and Jesus's role in that. Well written and well thought out - just very dense at times!
What do You think about How God Became King: The Forgotten Story Of The Gospels (2012)?
I love Wright's logic and use of language as he teaches such beautiful things for the glory of God.

You won't read the gospel the way you did it before!
