Achingly poignant. In amongst the hilarity, How It Happened presents a kernel of truth about Arranged Life that should resonate with anyone who has experienced - in however peripheral a manner - the marriage mart in Pakistan, in Bangladesh. A charming mix of English and local colloquialisms, the book is hard to put down once you start reading. A thoughtful summer read, it's humorous and sarcastic tone makes it that much more effective in re-examining the absurdist productions that can result from sacrosanct Tradition. The start was interesting and relatable but the book lost momentum towards the middle. I would have loved more details, a bit more positivity and something different, something that would make me fall in love with it. It failed to do that. Nevertheless for a first book its a good attempt. I look forward to much more refined writing from this author because she certainly has the gift of story telling.
The book is really good. There were parts when I was laughing like a crazy person.
