4.5 starsThis was written from a photo and prompt for the LL series, so first I want to comment on the absolutely amazing job the author did with incorporating the prompt and the photo both so truly perfectly into the story that was written. Khy totally and utterly fit the photo right from the beginning . . . . man, that bewildered, innocent look! Khy sucked me into this story immediately. The world building was excellent and the characters nicely drawn. I cared about about them and what would happen to them immediately. Was rooting for Khy to have a HEA so hard! And a few things I thought were awesome in this world in addition to the magic and the guys:* The Fireskye, made me think of the Northern Lights! Only even more cool. * The Black? Is it death? Hell? Both? Something else. . . must find out!* The leythe Now I have to read more in the series (this sorta the second book I think, although it worked as standalone). This story had just a taste of Varian and Tor but HINTS that there was so much more between them!! I gotta know. I really liked Khy and Jaedin's world. They are interesting characters. Khy drew me in because of his obvious issues (which later have an interesting reason for being). His plight and his fear comes across well. Jaedin is drawn in by magic as well as a voice starts echoing in his mind. He'd rather just stay in his village mourning his lost lover but he is brought into Khy's terrifying plight.I thought they made a good couple though both the near rape and the later dub-con scene were a bit tough to read (though I knew they were coming because they were marked). Even though her role was relatively small, I really liked Mara. It's great to see good female characters in a story.
What do You think about Human Choices (2014)?
Very nice story. I like the way everything worked.
