Huzursuz Kemikler: Cerrah Hugh De Singleton'ın İlk Günlüğü (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Copy received from Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours for an honest reviewI was a little surprised that I liked this book so much, but it really was an entertaining read. I personally like when authors are able to juggle different aspects of a story and do they do it well. Mel Starr presents a rich historical/ mystery. There were different elements of the story that worked out well. Hugh of Singleton was a great character and I really enjoyed reading about him. To me this was like a historical forensics. I thought the writing was good and the pacing of the story was successful. Anyone that likes history, mysteries and the historical aspect of medicine will really enjoy this story. The Unquiet Bones by Mel Starr is a fantastic historical fiction, crime solver read. It had my attention from beginning until end. I loved the characters. They were relatable, and completely realistic. Hugh de Singleton was a great main character, very likable and personable. As a reader you wanted him to succeed and find the murderer of the body that was found in the cesspit at Bampton Castle. The author created a really great story line that keeps the reader on their toes guessing what is going to happen next. I honestly did not have a clue as to who was the culprit in the murder of Margaret (the name of the girl whose body was found in the cesspit). I would start to think it might be one character, and then that would be disproved. It was a great ‘whodunnit’ novel. I enjoyed all of the detective work that Hugh does in order to try to find out who murdered Margaret. He has no experience as a detective, but he does a pretty thorough job at trying to find the answers that he needs, even though he is just a small town surgeon.I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good historical fiction novel, or even people who like reading a great mystery or detective novel. I am hooked and can’t wait to read the other books in the series. I give this book a FIVE out of FIVE stars!
