Hey look. I love cat humor. And frankly, I like a lot of lowbrow, silly-ass cat humor. Some of these poems made me chuckle a bit, but overall I wasn't impressed. For one thing, I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually written by cats. If it had been, I could excuse the (mostly) lazy and uninteresting verse. The book is essentially a collection of cat cliches (some funny) written down, with poetic-looking line breaks but not all that much cleverness. I will continue to look to the Internet for high-quality cat humor. Francesco Marciuliano has put together two hilarious books on pets: one for cats and a separate one for dogs entitled "I Could Chew on This."Both hone in on the unique characteristics of cats or dogs and there is a poem for each of their quirky behaviors. From the animal's point of view, crotch sniffing, toilet paper unraveling, doorbell excitement, food snatching, and more makes perfect sense. Pet lovers will take great pleasure in these brief poems accompanied by wonderful photographs that clearly capture delightful animal behaviors.
