This little gem crept up on me--much like a yawn! I'd had it sitting on my story time shelf for a while, and decided to try it in a bedtime themed preschool story time. I was pleasantly pleased with its reception. Parents and preschoolers alike got a chuckle from the clever text, though not always at the same time or for the same reason. What I especially liked about I Dare You Not to Yawn was the opportunity to act it out. There was plenty of wide-mouthed yawning and stretching in this story time and we were all making one another yawn by the end--I had to add an extra song to my story time after this to wake us up!Will definitely read again.Melisa Never let you mom see you yawn or it will lead to pajamas and bedtime stories and songs and goodnight kisses. So if you're not ready for all of that be sure to follow the simple instructions laid out in this book. I dare you not to yawn as you read this to your little ones. Who knew yawns were contagious from illustrations and text as well as in person? Trying not to yawn when you are reading a book all about yawning is so much easier said than done. This is sure to brings smiles (and yawns) to everyone! Dare I ask how many times you yawned while reading this review?
I found myself yawning along with this story. It is addicting and fun. 2014 Building Block nominee
