I had download this book for free for my kindle and then forgot all about it. However a few days ago, I was searching for another story but could not remember the name or the author. I clicked on this little title thinking it may be my long lost tale of romance and humor. It wasn't but I was hooked by the first page.I think what I liked most about this particular tale set in Victorian times is that follows the man's point of view. He really likes the girl but does she like him? He liked her right off the bat. Its sweet and cute and fluffy read. Also unlike many tales where the gentleman is handsome and rich, our Earl is poor as a church mouse. It was an interesting change. I enjoy it enough that I may reread it at some point. I will keep my eyes open for another Caroline Linden' tale. I read this ebook in 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. I have the 3 novels in the "The Truth About the Duke " series, and decided to download and read this prequel before starting the main novels. I am convinced that the Duke Of Durham is gay, after reading about his secretive and peculiar batchelor behavior in this Prequel. But then I know he goes on to have 3 sons in the other novels.This was an enjoyable read, but I was turned off by the Duke of Durham when he reneged on the amount of Margaret's dowery. He should have been shunned by Society for behaving so dishorably to his sister. But then he changed his mind and I was cheated on not being able to read how they restored the Rhys's holdings. Still intrigued enough to read the main novels.
Great story, easy reading and I´m now addicted to reas Caroline Linden´s books.
