It did take me at least 162 pages of mindlessly reading before I really got into the book. It was written really well, the mystery aspect of the book is perfect. In the last 12 chapters (give or take a few) I was at the edge of my seat, chapter after chapter my mind was like a spider web trying to stitch all my theories together. I found the last chapter was a huge plot twist. I got to the end of the book and I stared at it. Then how it normally goes for me I launch into my speech about how I feel about the book, and if I want the next one or not. I did put the the next one on hold at my local library but I'm not sure if I want to read it or not. It was a huge change plot wise from what I gathered from the little blurb abut the 'Nevermore' the second book in this trilogy. I do plan on picking the book up tomorrow. I hope to rate it then. I love a good ghost story and I thought this was a really good one. There are lots of twists and turns in the story. Sarah and her family go the family home Amber House for her grandmother's story. The house has many secrets and as she and Jackson discover as they look for the legendary missing diamonds. Sarah finds out she can see visions of the past and discovers many other frightening family secrets. I can't wait to read the second book.
