This book is, whoa, so cool. I picked it out on my library's web page because I thought the cover was interesting. When I read the synopsis I thought that it might be interesting but wasn't hoping for a lot. I finished it in two days it was SOOOO good. Solveig the man character is so charming, witty, easy to understand and sympathize with and just awesome! I didn't even know when I started it that it had Norse mythology in it, mentioning Loki, Thor and Odin, I was so excited when I read that! Very well written this book is a so must read for all ages with plenty of action lovable and so annoying characters and twists keeping you turning the pages for more and more. Great book, five stars for neat cover, great strong main female character and great writing. (Its third person, my personnel favorite and one of the best first person novels I'v read in a while) I honestly didn't want to read this book, but I did because it is on the Wyoming Indian Paintbrush nominees list. I read all of the books on it so I had to read it. I'm glad I did. It was wonderful! It took me awhile to get into it but I am so glad I stuck it out and finished this fantasy novel.Solveig is with her sister and brother and others trapped in a hidden fortress. Her father, the king, sent them there to keep them safe while is is at war. Winter hits and food runs low. Someone is trying to kill everyone who is protecking the children. Soelvig struggles because she knows her foather doesn't hink much of her; her sister is beautiful and her brother will be king. She is plain and unremarkable, but she can tell stories. Solveig must find herself while trying to stay alive. Who is the traitor? Will they survive? Will the king be victorious? Will it matter?
What do You think about Icefall (2011)?
Story was just okay to me but it was written very well. Perfectly clean-passing it on to my kids.
