Well, I am a little disappointed, I must admit. I absolutely LOVED the first book Icons. I devoured it in a day. I was looking forward to reading this second book Idols so much! I wound up becoming a little bored and losing interest at times. This one just didn't pull me in as much as Icons did.However, the ending was great and I really loved the whole concept of the book.I didn't hate this one, but I also didn't entirely love it. "In the near future, four teenagers discover that their emotions have been weaponized and that they have been genetically bred to end the alien occupation of Earth."Ok, I really really REALLY wish I had read the synopsis from the library before having read this book. Because that synopsis is both succinct and interesting. Sadly, I did not read that synopsis,so my enjoyment of the book was near zero.I tried though! I re-read what GoodReads had to say about the first book and this book, plus I re-read my review of the first book. About halfway through this one, I re-read all that stuff AGAIN, plus a handful of other people's reviews on both books. I was still supremely confused and uninterested =///In case there's a third book [which seems likely], I will attempt to write about as much as I know.So aliens have come to Earth. They want to take-over and populate the planet for themselves. They've done this for other planets. However, they weren't counting on our planet having an intelligent species: humans.A bunch of scientists have genetically engineered 4 children as weapons against the aliens, either hoping to deter the aliens all together, or at least delaying them for as long as possible why they came up more weapons.Those 4 kids have powers, all relating to a different feeling: sorrow, love, fury and... fear???The way this book ended is that the aliens have now arrived. Ro is dead. Dol is resolved to fight for Earth??I still don't know what the Lords are [the aliens?]. The kids are the Icons. Who the fuck are the Idols?? I AM WAY TOO FUCKING CONFUSED.
