A little girl finds a box with a sign saying “Free Raptors” and she takes one home! Turns out, her raptor behaves very much like a kitten, including snuggling in the clean laundry, running around like crazy all night, and sharpening her claws on the furniture. I loved the illustrations in this book! The main character is an adorable little African-American girl (yay, more diversity in picture books!) and the raptor is a totally charming blue dinosaur with big green eyes (especially big when she’s looking at birds out the window). This will be so much fun for story time! Cute story for young readers. On the back flap, it talks about how George O'Connor when doing research for this book, found that raptors had many similarities as a household cat. He used those similarities in the book - as the baby raptor tries to sneak up on the little girl, how the raptor likes to sleep in the day time, how the raptor curls up on the little girl's lap and how the little girl hangs a little bell around the raptor's neck so she always knows where he is!

An adorable picture book about a cat-like pet velociraptor.

Great book. Love that it's a little girl owning a dinosaur.
