Ihan Kivat Kasvot (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

Okay so i know i say this a lot. But this is my favorite book ever. (Okay so i have like 7 books that i my favorite, who cares?!) Anyway, I've been reading this book every summer for the past four years since I was in 8th grade.I absolutely love any type of travel romance book. And this covers everything, from weight problems, food, Italy, to a gorgeous Italian boy(!!!)PERFECTION.Literally perfection. This book takes you on an adventure, a journey that it unforgettable for hailey( the main character). Hailey struggles with her weight, and her mother doesn't make her feel any better about it. Not to mention, her life isn't going to smoothly. Her used to be crush, Drew Wyler, she finds out that he doesn't like her, but her best friend Jackie. Her heart shatters and she refuses to face her friend and Drew. Then comes the interesting part. She is later convinced by her mother to go to a waist watchers meeting with her to just see how healthy she should be eating. The moment approaches, and Hailey bails out on the meeting in the beginning of it.When she later arrives home from stuffing her face with a large pizza, her parents are sitting in the living room, waiting for her arrival. Then that's when they lay it on her, she was going to Italy for a healthy summer away from home, to find her self. As she says her goodbyes and boards the plane to Italy she has no idea what awaits for her. A beautiful cottage overlooking hills, with her own tower. The delicious pasta, and exotic tastes, and her soon to be boyfriend, Entzo. My only pet peeve of this book was the way the characters were, the mother was selfish towards Hailey, and the brother was just mean to her. And i feel as if the friend was more oblivious to how Hailey might be feeling than anyone. Mary Hogan did a great job constructing such an interesting book that really used mostly show and not allot of tell.I loved this book and i would recommend it to teenage girls who are looking for a good read.
