This is a scrapbook. Not sure why that has to be pointed out but many reviews found disfavor with this fact. Printing Jim's journal as just the journal would have been dry reading even for the most ferocious Henson fan, so Karen Falk has compiled quick surmises teamed with photos, sketches and factoids to accompany highlights from Jim's journal. It's a quick read and full of nostalgia and history. It leans more toward the "coffee table book" category but I feel it's a must have for anyone wanting to gain insight into Jim's mind and life. Excerpts from Henson's journal (more like a date book - just jotted down important dates and appointments) illustrated with photos, sketches, notes, and memorabilia from Henson Studios. A cool reminder of the many MANY amazing projects (and some that never were 'picked up' by television studios) that Jim Henson collaborated on, though I found myself yearning for more intimate detail of his personal life and what he was inspired by as an artist.
Would've liked to see more of the sketches that enson undoubtedly made.

I felt like I was in his attic looking through shoeboxes.
