This was my first book by Mary Wine. I thought this was a sweet romance but it was just okay for me. There wasn't much going on in the story. Anne and Broderick's relationship was too easy, there were no challenges to overcome. I would have liked a bit more description of Broderick's castle, clothing, the environment...etc. I will continue with this series since my library did order me the whole ebook series. I can't waste my library's money! ;) This is only the second book by Mary Wine that I've read and I just wasn't very empressed. The characters didn't feel real, they felt flat and underdeveloped. This could have been a really emotional book but it just failed to get those emotions to the reader, imo. One thing that really bothered me though out the whole book was the plan to have Anne give birth and then hand over the baby to her evil half sister to raise as her own.I know that Anne didn't really have much of a choice in pretending to be Mary but the only problem or guilt that Anne seemed to have was that in deciving Brodick, he wouldn't get the lands that was part of the dowry. Nothing is ever mentioned about how wrong it is to give her baby to someone evil to raise. It just seemed that it didn't matter to Anne. This book could have been so much more, more than just the sex that you find in erotic books, there could have been an emotional story with raw sex included.
