Lara glanced from Malcolm’s dour expression to Gabriel’s puzzled one. “What do you think, Gabriel?” She’d decided this morning that she would venture out, but no one in the house seemed to think that was a good idea. Lara wanted to shout that she knew her tormentor and he wouldn’t dare try anything else, but she couldn’t be sure. And she couldn’t give up now. Gabriel stood with feet planted apart. Was that his stance for arguing? This mixing things up had been his idea, after all. “I appreciate that you want to continue with your plans, Your Highness. And I did suggest you rearrange your schedule.” Malcolm scowled at that. She tapped her heel, impatient to get on with things. “But?” Malcolm cleared his throat. “But there’s something we didn’t tell you last night.” Shocked, Lara glanced around.
