I wasn’t sure if you were going to work or not.” “I slept in this morning.” Summer felt the crawl of heat in her cheeks and knew she needed to change the subject fast. “Thanks for meeting me for lunch. I’m not a good invalid. Got bored with my own company.” She found herself thinking about Nikolai’s assertions—about Dare and his family’s involvement in illegal activities. If criminal propensity was written on his face, she couldn’t see it.
