This book picks up immediately after the ending of The Future of Our Past. Tragedy has shaken Ryan's world, even more than he could ever have expected. He had everything he wanted in life and in a split second it was all taken from him. He suffers loss on so many levels, it is difficult to imagine anyone making their way through it. Essentially, he and Julia have to rekindle their relationship. Again, the reader is ruined for all other men because of Ryan's deep and abiding love for Julia. He only wants to do what the experts say is the right thing, even though his heart tells him otherwise. The story centers on the connection between Julia and Ryan and how it weathers this fierce storm. This book is even more emotional than The Future of Our Past. The writing is concise and gives the reader great insight into the characters' minds. While the path to their HEA is smoothed in this book, the reader knows that there is more angst coming. Continue the journey and enjoy the ride. OMG, I seriously feel like I deserve an award for finishing this book. Don't get me wrong, I liked the characters and the love they shared, but it made me want to puke. If I read, "I love you... No, I love you more... No, I miss you and love you more..." One more time I thought I would strangle myself with a wet noodle. And don't even get me started on the sex scenes. "Uhhh, uhhggg..." Seriously? I would've stopped and asked the person if they needed to use the restroom. One more thing: editing, editing, editing!I will not read the third book. I'm out.
