In Crimson Bay, war is brewing as the promise of a prophecy draws near. Slade, a Therian assassin, has been tasked to infiltrate a local khiss and await orders. His boss has a plan to rid Crimson Bay of the vampires once and for all. Slade shifts into vampire form and is welcomes into the khiss as a newborn by Dylan. His immediate and passionate attraction to her is confusing for him, as are his sudden cravings and increase in strength and speed. While determined to complete his mission, spending time with Dylan breaks down the stereotypes he has always held of vampires and he finds himself torn between duty and destiny.Dylan cares little for the politics of war, but as the owner of ReVamp, a support system for new and troubled vampires, she is concerned that her race is buckling under increased pressure from the Therians particularly as the blood supply meant to satisfy the community is somehow tainted. This may give this new series an edge over others in the genre who rely almost solely on the romance to carry the story. Intervamption veers to the darker side of the genre where I had expected something lighter from the book description but I enjoyed the well paced, tension filled storyline and will most likely pick up the second installment.
