I wasn't sure how a fan fiction mystery would be, but I was so happily surprised. It was fun to reconnect with characters after their Jane Austen stories. The author did a nice job of keeping them true to their original portrayals, while at the same time building upon Emma's world. If you are familiar with Emma , then you will enjoy the references to the original book and subtle humor. The mystery was intriguing and kept you guessing for quite awhile. Don't read expecting romance, but a fun period story and mystery. I don't know what it is about these books, but once I start reading, I can't put them down! This one has a bit of a different start: We're treated to a couple of chapters of Emma and Mr. Knightly's married life before the intrigue starts. It works. The intrigue, when it starts, is related to the robbery of Darcy & Elizabeth by highwaymen, on their way to visit relations. As one would expect, Elizabeth Darcy and Emma Knightly get along very well. Their husbands, with their shared love of agriculture and their estates, get along even better. The Eltons are just as annoying as ever; and Mrs. and Miss Bates have their part to play, too.Mr. Woodhouse is here, too, encouraging Lizzy to eat many more bowls of gruel than she ever wants. There's a satisfying ending for everyone, although it felt a little forced. Still, if one is in need of a diversion, getting dragged into yet another mystery with the Darcys is a good way to spend a few hours.
What do You think about Intrigo A Highbury (2011)?
Pleasant enough weekend reading. Nothing special but also not annoying.

One of my guilty pleasure books. And very slight. But I enjoyed it.
