I'm sorry to say that Irreplaceable is forgettable. I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this book. I made it to chapter 6 before having to make a choice between not finishing at all or skipping ahead; it just wasn't progressing. I was interested to see how Alex came to grips with everything and how his relationship with Janet ended up so I decided to skip ahead to chapter 27. It seemed like I picked up right where chapter 6 left off. If I missed anything in between it was perhaps a few F words (the four that were in the few chapters I did read were unneccesary). There are soooo many other books I would like to read that I'm glad I didn't spend more than just a few hours with this one. 2.5 The writing is tediously executed with nearly scientific precision Lovely details the life-after the death of everyone's beloved Isabel. Ironically the thing this book was missing was a heart, and most of a soul. The word I would use to describe would be dreary and depressing. No greater truth is being learned, no great good is being accomplished, the characters are defined by their selfishness.I got to page 210 and stopped, meaning to come back; a month later and I can't imagine trying again. Longer review TK.
An enthralling story that lacks plot or signs of plot advancement.
