Jag (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

Jag Steele…rockstar and total manwhore junkie. He spent the vast majority of the first half of this book taking drugs, getting pissed and having sex with groupies and random girls. Now I’m not saying that’s a bad thing lol, but this book was supposed to have been a hot romance. It was almost like the author got so immersed into Jag’s world that she forgot what the premise of the book was!Once the love interest came into things, obviously she hated everything about Jag’s life. Personally, she knew what she was getting when she signed up, so give the lectures a rest!I enjoyed the first part of the book when Jag was at his worst because that was when he was at his best.I enjoyed this book but I can see why people might become a tad bored with the repetitiveness of Jag’s antics. I didn’t. I thought it depicted the journey of someone hooked into that lifestyle very well. He was keeping the Press unaware of his lack of sobriety, he was actually being enabled by his Manager. That showed to me how the descent into drugs is an easy route to take when you are being helped by someone who just wants you as a cash cow. Quite sad really.I enjoyed the writing style of Ms Cole and wouldn’t hesitate to read other books by her. I would, however, take her blurb with a pinch of salt as I think she was definitely off tangent! I think this is one of the first books I have read that has been so graphic with the rocker lifestyle and the heavy drug abuse. If you’re faint at heart, I wouldn’t recommend this one because you certainly see a side to a drug addict that you won’t soon forget in this book. Jag was the lead singer for Pandemic Sorrow and only wanted the rocker lifestyle of drugs and women, and believe me, he had plenty of both. When Roxy entered his life, he knew he wanted to be better, but could he? This book dives deep with such emotion and I found myself just wanting to slap him at times with some of the foolish things he did. Roxy knew what kind of life Jag led and she knew it wasn’t a life she wanted at all. The dynamics of their relationship is one thing I loved about this book and I loved see Jag really fight for what he wanted. He may have been a bad guy but still a good one too.

What do You think about Jag (2000)?

Loved it! Loved the realism & angst. Can't wait for Rixy's story.

I am glad you didn't write it in a 3rd person style!
