Jennifer Johnson Is Sick Of Being Alone (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
At first I thought this was yet another version of woman can't get her life together, has wacky self-demeaning adventures, does a bunch of stupid things to win the man of her dreams, until she realizes she's actually in love with the guy who was under her nose all along, and drops the prince to go follow her heart. And basically it was, except the author takes almost a clever left turn late in the book, which nearly raises the story up to a more interesting level....except by that point, I hated everyone in the book so much for just being terrible in so many different, stereotypical ways, that I just didn't care any more. Bridget Jones is the archetype of this story for a reason; go read that again, you'll be better off. Chaotically fast-paced book that won't let you put it down. This has to be the funniest book I've ever read. The story is not exactly relatable. Jennifer's character is a bit (ok, extremely) psycho/neurotic, while Brad is a bit one-dimensional. But all in all, thrilling and hilarious and tragic. All throughout I kept oscillating between deciding whether I was going to hate the book or love it. Very exciting and never stops surprising you. Leaves an unsettling feeling in your stomach. Nevertheless, I've decided that I loved it.
What do You think about Jennifer Johnson Is Sick Of Being Alone (2011)?
OMFG the ending pissed me off. However, there is apparently a sequel...so, I guess it's excused.

Laugh out loud funny, but horrible ending. Extra points for being a Minneapolis writer.
