Victoria is tired of broken promises. When she sees a baby boy get abandoned by his teen mother on the train they are taking to New York, she decides that enough promises have been broken to him too. She promises to protect him, from his mother and her angry boyfriend, and the cracks in the system that would send him back to that mother. Victoria becomes a kidnapper according to the law, but she is staying on the run until everyone responsible starts keeping their promises. I hated this book because the main character was just so frustrating. 15 year old Victoria is supposed to be picked up at the train station by her father who is less than what she expects him to be. While on the train, she watches a single mother and her toddler. She believes that the mother must be abusing the boy because he has bruises on his arm and she is harsh towards him. The mother gets off the train leaving him. Victoria decides that it is her responsibility to take care of this baby. She is accused of kidnapping and still won't bring him back. The plot thickens through the mother being part of a drug deal and the money all being with Victoria. All in all I would not recommend this book.
Good book. Easy to read. Shows how life isn't always fair.
