Again LaFevers has told a wonderful story, though the romance was obvious and part of the story it didn't detract from the story being told. Sybella is a very interesting character to learn about and was well written. My only disappointment is the passed up opportunity to have a lesbian romance, but in a way I am glad LaFevers didn't do so, as with Sybella as a character it would have been the stereotype of a woman harmed and damaged by men coming to hate them and turning to women for love. The restart of the story is so good and well written it flows and holds together well. 4.5 stars! I enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series, Grave Mercy. This story is much darker and more personal showing the painful history of Sybella's life. There were many turns/twists throughout the story, and the relationship between Sybella and Beast was touching. He is not the typical "good looking" Hero you would find in a story, but he more than made up for it with his compassion, devotion and love for Sybella. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Mortal Heart.
2nd in the series: as excellent as the first! Can't wait to read the next one!
