I might come back to this later, but for right now, it's just a waste of time. I made it to page 67, and just suddenly lost all interest. Thad isn't a strong enough Alpha male for this genre, Isabel's first impression rubbed me the wrong way, and the dialogue? Downright cheesy. As long as there was sexual tension and developing emotions, that was all easy for me to deal with. But the sex happened way too fast, before any sexual tension could really develop. So soon, in fact, that it felt like a one night stand sort of deal, which is not at all sexy in a paranormal romance. No real emotions, just this cliche of "You're my destined mate and my dick really wants you now", and that trope hasn't been original in years. It's like some authors who don't want to develop relationships between their characters use "the prophesied perfect mate" so they can get straight to the nitty-gritty-sexy time instead of using it to do something fun and interesting, and it just didn't work for me here. Some authors can pull it off, though.I don't want to be too negative, though. The world seemed interesting. The battle between the wizards and the vampires was really intriguing. But you rarely read a romance for world building and war, and if you don't like the highlight of the book, it's probably not worth the read for the occasional glimpse into the side plots. That being said, maybe the next two books in this series are better, but I didn't really care for the author's writing in the first place, so this is no longer high on my priority list. I'm just going to write this off as another piece of evidence that women buy sex no matter the quality. *******Contains spoilers*****This book was okay. Isabel was a bit*h. Thad put up with a lot of crap that most wouldn't have. Isabelle spent the entire book Denying her feelings.Later in the story she leaves to clear her head, smells something she wants to eat, leaves the property and then gets kidnapped. One of Thad's soldiers are killed because of her, and she doesn't show one iota of guilt for the widow whose husband was killed because of her stupid ass. Overall the story had a good plot, but I just didn't like the two main characters. I was much more interested in the second in command and the human.
What do You think about King Of Darkness (2012)?
Great spin on the vampire mythos. LOVED the secondary characters and can't wait to read more!!
