4.5 Stars.....why? Because there were a few scenes that were "totally" unreal. For example, 1. You don't ward off a grizzly bear by slapping it on the head! 2. You don't give natural child birth, hop off the birthing table and start chasing a serial killer and 3. You don't have 6 hours of major kidney surgery, hop out of bed a day later and continue to chase and hunt down said serial killer. Okay, all that being said, I LOVE this series, I LOVE this author. And as I do realize the 3 misnomers mentioned above is TOTALLY what defines this book as fiction, I also realize there could have been more realistic ways to portray said fiction.I highly recommend this series and this author! More series need to be like this. Why is it a man can write an awesome, flawed heroine who takes everything and keeps fighting, but women can't? If Stephanie Plum were like this,ohhhh, the love I would have for that series. Even if she were still a bondsman, not a cop, it would be better.This is the perfect ending to one of the best thriller series I've ever had the pleasure to read. Jack's transformation into the type of person who wants that particular ending in life is wonderfully explored and written. It makes sense, and there's not a false note anywhere.I went into this only reading Konrath's Daniels' series, but I will definitely be looking up Blake Crouch and his books. If these two writers are as alike as they seem, and write thrillers the same way, I will be a very happy reader.
