I was extremely impressed with both the story and the writing. Chuck Hogan has created a fan in me. I was a bit nervous coming off of the Strain, which he co-wrote, but when he's on his own, he's great. I loved the characters. The story is great and it runs very similar to my own book, Catharsis. I like the idea of a renegade taking on the drug lords, and that's what this one is about. I would have liked a bit more action in the book, and a bit less of the girl, but that's only personal preference. It was still great and kept me glued to it.It finished strong, and I liked how he ended it. I saw some of it coming (somewhat typical action-book wrapup), but the final scene was well done and unexpected.I have no complaints with the read, and I will be bumping this book up onto my "must recommend" list. Now to go out and track down more of his books. :) Enjoyable action-crime story that follows a down-on-his-luck former special forces soldier as he tries to make his way in Boston after returning from the war in Iraq/Afghanistan. Soon he ends up in a tight nit group of ex-military that rob drug dealers, destroying the narcotics but taking only the cash. For a while, things go very well, until the protagonist begins to wonder where the inside information on their raids stems, and soon things prove out to have been too good to be true. It's a relatively quick, easy read, with great pacing and enjoyable characters. Action trumps and it's great summer read from the author behind The Prince of Thieves, upon which the fantastic movie, The Town (Ben Affleck) was based.
What do You think about Kopfgeld (2010)?
Lots of action, never a dull moment. I liked the way it ended, a sequel must be on the way.

I like Hogan's style.But... the characters and the plot seem a bit dull to me.
