Three really good novellas all in one book. So good in fact, that this book is hovering between 4 and 5 stars, so it might end up with a permanent home on my book shelf. This was my first time reading Maggie Shane, and she had some laugh out loud moments in between the ghost story and romance.Barbara Hambly I've read and liked before, so I wasn't surprise that this was a well written story. If anything, I'd say it needed an extra 50 to 100 pages to really flesh out the story. However it would make an awesome horror movie as is! Charlaine Harris managed to surprise me. I've read Lily Bard, Aurora Teagarden, and Sukie Stakehouse and I'm not a fan of Harris' work. After reading through 10 books and 3 short stories about Sukie I finally had to running away from the series because I realized that happy ending I kept waiting for was never coming. So imagine my shock when I read this story that was set in Sukie's world but managed not to include any of the manipulative bullshit and pervasively craptastic backstabbing politics that run ramped in Sukie's stories. How refreshing to have a vampire in this universe that likes the heroine just for being herself. This may be the only thing Harris has ever written that I really like and would read again. I thoroughly enjoyed Layla's story. It was so captivating and I wanted more of it. Not that the author did a sub par job I just enjoyed it immensely and really didn't want the story to end. The other two stories in this book I have to say I didn't have any interest in reading at the beginning. However, I am one of those people who can't just read half a book and put it down I have to read the whole thing so I chugged along. The 2nd and 3rd stories were remarkably good. I get them mixed up in what order they appeared but the story of the journalist who bought the house was ok. I think it could have used more in terms of story development but for a short it was pretty good and kept my entertained. I found I enjoyed the story of the dancer far more than I expected. At first glance (and the first few pages) I thought it was going to be one of those books I toss at the wall a couple of times before I got to the end (Finally!) however once I got into it the story grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Again this was one of those books where at the end you'd like more in terms of what comes next for the characters but for a short it was pretty good!
What do You think about La Danza De La Noche (2010)?
Read. Finished July 2012. A complete stand alone short story, and not particularly engrossing.

Typical supernatural/smut stories that I enjoy, but some of it felt rushed.

Loved Charlaine Harris's story, the other 2 were less than memorable.
