La Llave Del Destino (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

The Tenth ChamberBy Glenn CooperThriller – EngagingGlen Cooper has written a series of stand-alone novels. His book generally feature an intertwined story from varying time periods. With the discovery of an ancient script, literary historian Hugo Pineau and archaeologist Luc Simard and the two men go exploring, where they discover a vast network of prehistoric caves, buried deep within the cliffs. As they begin the process of discovery a series of unfortunate accidents occur, leaving dead bodies throughout Europe. Pineau races to discover the truth, and those behind the deaths, before his life is taken as well.Cooper’s books generally set up the villain and hero, establishing detailed and realistic motivations for both. It anything the villain is frequently described as an anti-hero.The settings and events are unbelievable, with some imagination required to apply to the story.Generally engaging murder thrillers that tie in a love-hate relationship with the Catholic Church. The Tenth Chamber takes us on a wild ride from pre-historic times to the days of the Knight's Templar to modern times. What ties them all together is a wonderous cave near Ruac in France that is discovered after a fire in an ancient abbey reveals a book written in the 1300's in code and a riddle that just begs to be answered. In seeking the answers, there is a path of blood and conspiracies and great loss for the discoverers of the cave Luc and his best friend.Back and forth the story goes as each piece of the puzzle is revealed. It is both a fantastic discovery but also one fraught with great danger as those most deeply involved in the secrets of the cave seek to avoid detection.I did not know what to expect when I first picked up the book. It turned out to be a wonderful discovery in itself. I particularly like the epilogue but I will not reveal the spoiler as it shows Yogi Berra was right. It's not over until it's over.
