La Oscura Verdad De Mara Dyer (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
THIS BOOK. WOW. This book blew my mind, total mind F. It was creepy but still kept me laughing...What really got me is since Mara hallucinates a lot you don't know what is real and what is not. (Because it's in her point of view.) The cliff-hanger is maddening. I didn't know how big of one it would be so I didn't get the second book along with the first, but now I NEED IT. The book was so amazing, I'm blown away. Going into this book, I was unsure of what to think. I knew a lot of people liked it, and I knew a lot of people didn't. But it was one that I had been meaning to read for a while, so I grabbed it and was pleasantly surprised. It's not often that I go into a book blind. I didn't really know anything about the story before I started reading it when I usually read the inside flap or the back of the book first. I think going into this blind was good for me. I've been on a kind of supernatural kick lately, and from the few things I'd seen about this series before, I didn't know about those elements of the book. I just thought it was about a girl who'd been in an accident and was suffering from PTSD. Going in blind made my reading experience so much more rewarding.I devoured the book in two days. Honestly, I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with these characters. While I often disagreed with Mara's actions, I wanted to know every aspect of her story. But I wanted to know Noah's even more. I have a penchant for cocky, sarcastic boys in books, and he never let me down in that respect.I did find Noah and Mara's relationship a little too strenuous towards the end of the book though. The arguing about what's right and wrong, Noah stating that Mara was made for him, and the whole completing each other thing seemed far too needy to me even if it made sense with how damaged both of the characters are. While it certainly wasn't a five star, perfect read for me, I did really enjoy this book, and I can't wait to start the second book in the trilogy.
