I'm sorry, but this felt like a washed-out version of Ian's book. We have a hero with issues (and the whole "blank staring" and losing track of conversations is prominent in both books) and a pretty average heroine that falls for him and tries to help. I also didn't believe the whole "I wanted to stop you from marrying the guy" since he was asleep while the wedding was supposed to take place (at the beginning it clearly says the groom was an hour late).Anyway, it was pretty good, but not the greatest. I still like her PNR books more. The only bad thing I have to say is that Juliana St. John came out of no where. All the other characters we've met before they get their own book. This one left me scratching my head wondering if she was so important why haven't we seen her before?! This book is also a bit different in that it didn't really involve the Mackenzies. Don't worry we still see them but the series takes a turn and we spend time with the McBride family. I like all of Ainsley's brothers especially Elliot so it was nice to get to know him more. Although I'll miss the Mackenzies I'm not disappointed with the McBrides.
Very different and didn't need to read the rest of the series to enjoy this book.
